General Info

The residents of Austin, Texas are turning down fossil fuels in a big way. They've set their sights on sustainability. Residents are eagerly adopting electric vehicles and solar power, and the city government just earned the 2013 Climate Leadership Award from the EPA for its plan to make all city vehicles and buildings carbon neutral by 2020!

According to some sources, climate change is an issue that will soon cause major divisions within the Republican party, and between American conservatives in general.

Like immigration and gay marriage, the GOP may need to change course on climate change in order to attract enough votes to gain another Presidency.

According to Peter Sinclair, "... there is an emerging realization among senior Republicans and pollsters that the party is severely out of step with the general voting populace on climate change," and "... people who think of themselves as conservative or independent but are turned off by what they see as a willful denial of science and facts, will also abandon the GOP, unless the party comes to an honest reckoning about global warming."

Perhaps he's right. Either way, we'll continue supporting practical ways of fighting global warming, like electric vehicles.

This looks like progress to me! Efficiency is up, renewable prices are down. We're using less fossil fuel, so we're spewing less greenhouse gas into the atmosphere. Even more encouragement to avoid cars as much as possible.

Take a look at this all-electric bus that was featured on Jay Leno's Garage! Competitively priced compared to standard diesel buses, lower fuel expenses, less maintenance required, and perhaps best of all, none of the hidden costs and environmental damage that comes with gasoline. Hopefully we see more of these in the future.

"After the hottest year in American history, Big Oil's refinery lobby QUADRUPLED their spending."
It looks like Big Oil is banking on the wisdom of Upton Sinclair, when he said that;
"It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it!"
For another reason to stick to electric scooters and other efficient vehicles, just take a look at this article from The Hill.
