Go-Ped ESR-1000Finally! A balance between the high costs of Lithium-Ion powered scooters, and primative SLA powered scooters has been acheived through the newest LiFePo powered; Go-Ped ESR-1000 Electric Scooter! Yesssss.

Initially, Go-Ped started off using Sealed Lead Acid batteries (SLA), which can be found in most cars, and motorcycles. SLA batteries are big, heavy, and filled with corrossive acids that lose their charge holding capabilities after very few charge cycles. Lithium-Ion was discovered to be exponentially more efficient in size, weight, and overall charging capabilities, but the price was not so efficient. The price is actially insanely high. This scooter is still available with both batteries, but the SLA's start around $1,000, and the Lithium-Ion's start around $2,200.

The new LiFePo4 batteries are almost as efficient as the higher cost Lithium-Ion, and much more efficient than..

the SLA powered scooters, for a low cost that compares to the entry level SLA powered scooters. The testing took a while to complete for these LiFePo4 batteries, but Go-Ped tamed the wild beast and incorporated an on-board battery tender to ensure stability at all operating conditions possible.

My first impression of the Go-Ped ESR-1000 was that of confusion. :/ I thought that they accidentally sent me the old ESR750EX, or maybe they accidentally re-sent me the ESR750Li 32ah scooter as a joke (I wouldn't mind a bit since that thing was AMAZING!). I inspected the ESR-1000 that they had sent me and it is pretty hard to tell the difference between all of the different electric scooters. The ESR750, ESR-1000, ESR750Li-Ion, and the ESR-1000EX are all pretty much the same appearance-wise.

The real difference is when you ride them. The new LiFePo4 scooter showed up low charge, so I immediately charged it, and was in for a bit of a wait with the 9 1/2 hr. charge time. The next day.....I suited up, and headed for the garage. The ESR-1000 was ready to go, and so was I. I went to bed excited to see what Go-Ped had come up with this time. I headed out and immediately felt comfortable on the ESR-1000. All of Go-Ped's scooters ride amazingly, so the ride is not the most important topic to cover, since that's kind of a given.

The range is the real topic of interest when describing the differences between the Go-Ped models. The charge time is a bit much, but for the price, you can't beat the performance of the LiFePo4 equipped ESR1000. The diference between the 1000, and the 1000EX, which I'll cover in an upcoming blog, is the extended range of another battery pack. With the new capabilities of the Go-Ped ESR1000 and the LiFePo4 batteries, I see no reason to get the SLA powered models or the Li-Ion models anymore. The LiFePo4 models are a perfect blend of technology, and cost efficiency.

Pros:
-Low cost
-High output LiFePo4 batteries
-Made in the U.S.A.
-Made by Americans
-Reliable products
-Reliable Company
-Highest Quality componentry
-Greater Range than SLA scooters
-Almost as much range as Lithium Ion Scooters
-Long Battery Life
-Long range capabilites with the EX model.
